Sheepskin Hut - Putty to Laguna, April 2012

A one night camp spent at Sheepskin Hut with No.2 son and granddaughter.

Lucky to get good weather before all the rain.  The road in and out were not too bad, quite a few trees had come down on the road but luckily some had been through before us and cut them up.

Camp sites were a bit short as there wasn't much flat ground to be found. Due to the wet weather we had prior to the trip leeches and mosquitoes were in good numbers.

The trip home was via the Howes Trail Road through Yango National Park to Wiseman's Ferry.

The trip can be seen here.

Sara, and her twin sister, munch on a 'chicken-in-a-tin roll'.

Plenty of these in the daytime.

And lots of these at night.  Funnel Web.

Just a Little Bit Wet

We have just had a massive dump of rain over the last 2 days. Our reading from here yesterday morning was 79 mm, this mornings reading was 161 mm.
There was local flooding to a lot of suburbs, mainly roads and cars.

Snowy Trip Dec 2012

Left on 26th to spend 3 nights in the Snowy Mountains High Country with my 3 sons, 1 son's partner and my granddaughter.

Heavy rain on the last part of the trip down gave way to clearer skies which allowed us to set up camp, go for a walk and spend time around the evening warming fire.

There were plenty of wildflowers, both in the woodland and on the open plains, some native and some feral.  Snakes and feral horses seemed to be the main animals here.  A couple of trout were caught, enough for all of us to taste. A day trip to Ravine (Lobbs Hole) gave us another fishing opportunity plus a chance for a swim for some.

A scenic drive home via Tumut and Wee Jasper ended a great little break.
