Bushfires in the Blue Mountains.

Hundreds of homes were feared destroyed in the most grave bushfire crisis NSW has seen in a decade.
These photos were taken from home at around 4:30 this afternoon.

Sara, my granddaughter, thought it was the moon, she had never been able
to look directly at the sun before.

Taken from backyard.

Looking across the road.

The eerie light brought out the colours.

A Cockatoo hangs on in the strong winds.

The sun through the smoke gave it a Martian look.

Burnt leaves found in the yard from the fires nearly 37 kms away.

Our smallish fire down the creek behind our place last Sunday.

(only 7 brigades were required)

The fire reached the back of some houses but no damage done.

Helicopters came to investigate........

.......and Elvis flew over as well.

Kids, Beach, a Dog and a Bit of Bush, Umina Has It All.

Tuesday at Umina for lunch had two agendas. One for the matriarchs (nothing to do with size) and children and the other for me, a tag-a-long.

Agenda 1:

At the beach.

The children enjoyed trying to drown the dog.

But Charlie kept coming back to shore.

No, you are not supposed to come out.

An oncoming storm sends all heading for the cars.

Mates.

And they want to pull this down.

Kids rule.

Last one in's a ...............

Lady Muck.

The beach after dark with night-vision is tops.

Agenda 2:

In the bush.

Mountain Devil

Pea with no common name.

 Heath-leaved Poranthera.  (I think).
Native Rose.

Box-leaf Wax-flower.

Golden Donkey / Golden Doubletails Orchid.
