Now to start the real holiday.
As with our first nights accommodation on two out of three previous visits to Tassie there is a bit of a hiccup. We are met by the owner of the Mountain View Country Inn at Deloraine who shows us to our room, where we are booked in for three nights, and says "there's one small problem, the shower doesn't drain properly but we will have it fixed tomorrow". Lynn wasn't that pleased but I was OK as I wasn't due for a shower for another three days.
What the motel lacked in draining showers was made up for in their restaurant where we had dinner over the next few nights, nice home cooked meals.
After Deloraine our next stay was for three nights at the River Breeze Caravan and Cabin Park, Smithton. On the way, at Ulverstone, we were invited by Christine and John, from our European trip in 2017 and, by coincidence, again on the ferry going to Tasmania, to their place for morning tea (I'm still kicking myself for leaving the camera in the car). Another Tassie couple we met on the Europe trip, Cheryl and Terry invited us to lunch, along with Christine and John, to their place near Marrwah on the west coast. Unfortunately Terry couldn't be there as he had made arrangements earlier to do some work on 'the shed' further down the coast. We were lucky to meet up with Terry, and Cheryl, the next day for afternoon tea while on our way back to Smithton after another little excursion. It was lovely to meet up again with the Tasmanites, nice food and lots of laughs.
Our next stay was at the Discovery Park (Cosy Cabins) Cradle Mountain for two nights. More on Cradle Mtn further on.

Met up with some nice locals we met on our European trip in 2017 for lunch
at Cheryl and Terry's home. Terry couldn't be there as he was working on his 'shed'.
We also had morning tea with Christine and John (rear left), the
day before, at their place but I forgot to take photos. |

We have been to Cradle Mountain three time before and the weather had been kind to us, not this time.
Wet and cold, 3C (37F) daytime temperatures, lucky we were only to be here for two nights. I was able to get some photos in the late afternoon before the sun disappeared just in case it was worse the next day. Yep, the next day was. We drove to the lake and it rained, we waited but it would not stop so we went back to the cabin. After a while the sun came out and it was back to the lake where it would rain again. Sitting it out in the car for a while the weather cleared, time for walk to the 'boatshed'. I didn't get far before it started to rain, then hail, then sleet and then snow, back to the car. When it stopped I tried again and nearly got there before the rain came again, blow it, I'll keep going. 3 out of 4 ain't bad. |

Today was to be worse. |
